My trusty 2008 Ford Focus just hit 200,000 miles, and it still runs like a champ! I’ve kept up with regular maintenance, and it seems to have paid off. This car has been through long commutes, countless road trips, and a lot of daily errands, yet it just keeps going.
Anyone else have a high-mileage Focus or tips for keeping it running smoothly? Let’s see how far it can go!
You’re doing it right. With routine maintenance, a good car truly lasts. No reason why you won’t hit 300k, either.
I’ve had a similar experience with an ’07 Scion tC. It’s at 122k and the only repair (if you can call it that) was replacing the battery after five years. I’m sure it will hit 200k too.

The battery is in its own category—it doesn’t wear like tires or brakes. It’s just something you replace every 4–5 years. Testing it periodically can help avoid being stranded.
Wow, nice! The fuel economy on the second-gen Focus is impressive. I really wish they’d continued selling the hatchback version—it would have been a serious contender for me. I ended up buying an ’08 Honda Fit instead.
My 1991 Ford Escort is approaching 450k miles with all original parts except for clutches (on its 3rd clutch now). Regular maintenance is all it’s ever needed. Still gets 41–44 mpg at 65 mph on the highway. She’s a champ for sure.
My dad had four first-gen Focus wagons and an Escort wagon as company cars. One went 370k miles before it was sold because it needed tires and brake pads. With routine maintenance, those cars were solid workhorses.
This is great news! Congrats. I’ve done two big road trips (5,000km each way) in my Focus the last two summers, and it hasn’t given me a single issue. Hoping it’ll last another 10 years!
