2008 Ford Focus with 80k miles for $3700—worth it?

@Fintan
Nice, I used to rebuild transmissions too. The 4L60E was so annoying—easy to work on, but I was tired of seeing them all the time.

I had a 2010 model and drove it from 40k to 120k miles. Common things to replace are motor mounts, brakes, and suspension. I also replaced the serpentine belt around 90k miles. Otherwise, it’s a reliable little car.

You were doing 10k-mile oil changes? That’s too long. No oil lasts that long.

I only used synthetic oil, and my driving was mostly highway—80 miles round trip for work. Even the independent shops didn’t see an issue with it.

I have a 2010 Focus with 170k miles. Main issue is rust on the rocker panels—there’s no real fix for it. The serpentine belt usually needs replacing around 90k miles, and suspension can wear out too. Other than that, great little car.

Would recommend. These were great cars, and the 2.0L Duratec engine is bulletproof. If you ever want to modify it, there’s a decent aftermarket for it too.

I’ve known a couple of people who’ve owned these, and I agree with everyone else—it’s a fair price for a good car. If it’s in as good shape as it looks, I’d grab it.

Crazy deal. I paid that much for mine back in 2013.
