I had my first crash in the Focus today. I’ve owned it since 2016 and put over 139,000 miles on it. Thankfully, it kept me safe—just some bruises from the seatbelt and airbag.
Sad glad you’re okay

Thank you. Me too. Airbags and seatbelt did exactly what they were supposed to do.
RIP Focus, may you rest in junkyard heaven. What’s next for you?

I’m thinking of getting a new Mustang GT. I think it’s time to go for something a bit faster. lol.

I’d get life insurance if I were you.

Sounds like a Focus RS could be a good move
@Darby
That’s a great option too. My reason for considering the new Mustangs over the RS is the 10-speed is a bit easier on my back during daily commuting in traffic. I’m also thinking of getting a weekend car once I have more space for a second vehicle.
@Skye
Of course. Make sure to enjoy the Mustang and eventually a Focus ST or RS.

I will for sure. Thanks a lot!
With all the negativity about the Focus and its transmission, can I ask if you had any issues with it? Was it auto or manual? Any major problems? Thanks.

It was the notorious auto. I guess I was one of the lucky ones. I had 140,000 miles of pretty spirited driving and never had any major issues except for the occasional stutter or clutch slip under high loads at low rpm. It treated me well with just basic maintenance (oil changes and tire rotations every 5k miles, spark plugs around 90k miles).
Very sad, I have almost the same Ford Focus.
You’ll find that high HP cars are pretty much useless on the street and a waste of money, unless you’re trying to destroy your license.
Sad news, hope you’re okay mate. Can you give the specs of your rims and tires?

I just had some 16-inch rims I got pretty cheap from the junkyard a few years ago. I think they’re Victory brand. And I had some 215/55 all-seasons for the tires.
Of course a Nissan was involved.
I hope you’ve been saving up for your next car just in case something like this happened. That’s what I’m doing. I’m driving a well-kept 2002 Honda Civic until it dies, and saving up for my next car in the meantime.
@Kai
Luckily, I’ve been saving for the past couple of years just in case. I’ve mostly been driving the Focus while looking for the right Mustang. Now I just have to act a little sooner.
