Got a 2021 Ford Focus 1.0 EcoBoost ST-Line X station wagon with 140,000 km. Love the car overall, but the transmission (6-speed manual) had a revision in February, and now it’s back in the shop again after failing three weeks ago.
At least my loaner is a 2024 ST-Line, and I gotta admit… that big screen is making me jealous!
I had a facelift Focus 4.5 as a loaner too. Decent car, but I hated the big screen—it felt like a space heater in the summer. I actually prefer the smaller one in my Focus 4.

Nice color, though!
The worst part is all the beeping! It beeps at me constantly, and half the time I have no clue why. Turning off the speed warning takes like four menus to get through. So annoying haha.
Gotta say, these are really nice-looking wagons. Too bad they aren’t the most reliable, but definitely one of the best-looking station wagons out there!

Totally agree! I still think it’s one of the best-looking wagons around. The new Peugeot 308 in red looks pretty sick too.
Thankfully, mine is a company lease, so at least I don’t have to pay for these repairs!
@Ainsley
Yeah, the Peugeot is a great-looking car too. Leasing definitely makes all these issues easier to deal with. My 2002 Focus is still rocking its original gearbox—kinda crazy how quickly these newer ones wear out.
I considered upgrading from my 2020 Focus to the facelift model, but the lack of a real climate control panel and those soft-touch buttons killed it for me.
Also, I keep hearing about OTA updates messing with the nav system and other features… no thanks. I’d rather stick with my small screen!
@Blayne
Mine’s the 2021 version, so it still has the small screen and proper climate control knobs. The 2024 loaner has everything on the screen, and I hate it. Way too many menus to go through just to adjust simple things.
@Ainsley
Yeah, they definitely messed that up. I think I’ll just stick with my current car. Ford seems to be going all-in on touchscreen everything, and I’m not a fan.

What even goes wrong in a manual transmission? Genuinely curious.
You tell me haha. I was coming up to a roundabout and had to stop. When I tried shifting into first, it just started grinding and wouldn’t stay in gear. Same thing with second. Ended up driving home starting from third.
