Anyone know cheap ways to add power to a 2.0 duratec?

Or you could just spend the money on a faster stock car.

Where’s the fun in that?

Cheaper, faster, more reliable… then you can upgrade that car and make it even better.

I just like turning old beaters into fast cars. Nothing beats flying past a new finance car in a rusty old bucket!

Plus, insurance is way cheaper on a 2005 Focus ZX3 than on an ST or SVT. I miss mine, sucks that I wrecked it just after doing all that work.

Then a Camry comes by and leaves you in the dust!

Strap a rocket to the roof!

Cheap? Not really. These aren’t Honda K-Series engines. You’ll need to spend a few thousand to get any real power increase. Intake and exhaust might get you 10hp on a good day.

Check out FSWERKS for a turbo kit. It bolts right on and they tune it too.

That’s probably the easiest and best way but also the most expensive.

Don’t tow with it, that’ll help!

Look up Focus Power—they sell SCT tuners.

AC delete is a good option lol, good luck though!

If it’s automatic, you’re out of luck. The 4F27E can’t handle much more power than stock. It’s a reliable transmission, but I wouldn’t push it. The engine is solid, but I’d recommend looking at a Civic if you want cheap power.

Take off the trailer, that should give you a bit of a boost.

Delete the exhaust, get a massive throttle body, and some duct tape, you’re good to go.

Just push the gas pedal all the way down, lol.

The cheapest way is a chip. I bought a used diesel Focus from Italy and my mechanic said it felt more torquey, likely because someone chipped it. Italians love doing that.

Edit: Be careful, though. Some chips are junk. Look for quality tuners who know what they’re doing.

Chips don’t work, man.

Some are fake, but the good ones work by remapping engine settings in the ECU. But yeah, tuning can wear down your engine faster.
