Are 2013-2017 Ford Focus hatchbacks reliable?

@Jai
Definitely. It’s still running great! I had to replace the lug nuts because of swelling, but that’s been my only issue so far.

What kind of transmission do you have? Eco?

@Shaye
I’ve got the DCT with the 2.0L engine. No Ecoboost for me—I’ve heard those aren’t great.

If you know how to handle the DPS6 transmission, these cars can be decent. If you want a trouble-free experience, get a stick shift. Ford quality has been slipping, though. You might want to consider an older Honda, Acura, or Mazda instead.

Worst car I’ve ever owned. Whoever designed it deserves a daily slap in the face.

The reliability is awful, and Ford can’t keep parts in stock. The TCM issues are the worst. I’d almost keep it just for the handling, but it’s not worth the headache. Maybe I’ll rent it out as a tiny home.

Ford’s reliability is terrible overall, and this model is one of the worst. Good luck if you decide to go for it!

I had a 2014 hatchback with a 5-speed manual. Around 100k miles, I had to replace the water pump and top engine mount. Other than that, it was a reliable daily driver until I sold it at 140k miles.

If you want to save money, look at the 2008-2011 models. They’re much more reliable as long as they’re in good condition when you buy them.

Save yourself the trouble and don’t buy one.

I just replaced the clutch components and TCM on mine, and now it’s running fine. If you’re in Texas, I’ll make you a good deal on it!

I’ve got a 2016 with 72,000 miles. No major issues so far, though the transmission can be a bit weird. Even my original brakes are still good!
