Best Ford Focus Generation… let's hear your opinions

MK1 all the way.

Had a Mk2.5 diesel estate and now driving a Mk4 1.5 diesel estate. The Mk2.5 was a workhorse, just wouldn’t quit. Sold it when I got a company car but would’ve kept it forever otherwise. The Mk4’s nice and smooth though. Love it except for the DPF.

Mk3 for sure.

I’m Irish and I’ve had the 2 (1.4 petrol), 2.5 (1.8 diesel), and 3.5 (1.5 diesel). Loved the 2 since it was my first car, but the 2.5 is probably my favorite. Only let it go due to electrical issues. If not, I’d still have it today. Sometimes I think about going back to a 2.5.

The European Mk2/Mk2.5 is what comes to mind when I think ‘Ford Focus’… especially the ST/RS with the 5-cylinder engine.

Mk4.5 looks the best and has a solid drivetrain, I think. Not totally sure about the quality though; the Mk4 Zetec I tried felt kinda cheap in the back.

Had the MK4 ST-line 1.5L manual for 4 years and 65k KM—no issues. Now driving the MK4.5 ST manual with 13k KM, still problem-free.

I’m not easy on them either… lots of Autobahn at 200-230 km/h!

@Terry
Sounds great! How’s the interior quality? I noticed the back felt a bit flimsy.

The ST-line in the rear is pretty solid to me, same materials as the front in the ST MK4.5.

@Terry
That’s good to know. Just noticed the rear doors rattle a bit when the music’s loud haha. Shame they’re discontinuing it soon.

Mk1 with the DOHC Zetec 2.0 engine… it’s an absolute beast!
