Check Engine light

The check engine light came on, and I’ve been driving with it for about a week. I finally found my scanner, and here’s what I found.
Car engine
Today, while I was driving, the fuel gauge started showing full even though it wasn’t. A few times, the engine almost stalled, and I could hear air coming out of the fuel filler door.

I usually do my own car repairs with my brother-in-law, so I’m ready to fix this if it’s not too complicated. Has anyone had this problem before? What parts do you think I might need?

Actually, there was a recall about the evap canister purge valve that was getting stuck and deforming the gas tank.

Your fuel gauge reading higher until it read full makes me think otherwise, unless the sending unit went crazy or something.

i’m going to see if they will repair it under the recall. I never got a letter in the mail about it. This is unfortunately the first time hearing about it. My tank does look like its been pulled in a little. What is in that recall sounds a lot like what i’m going through.

When my purge valve started to fail, I heard it opening and closing quickly. I actually thought it was a mouse scratching. I didn’t go in for the recall because I didn’t want to deal with it. I replaced it with a new OEM part, but it failed after a few years, so I got one from AutoZone. It has a lifetime warranty, so if it fails again, I’ll just get a new one.

I called a few dealers, but they can’t see me for a couple of weeks. I called Bagnell Auto Parts, and they have the part in stock. The guy there said if it’s covered by the recall, I can send my receipt to Ford and get my money back for the part.
