My 2015 Ford Focus SE hatchback sometimes has a really bad smell coming through the air vents. I’ve already changed the cabin filter and keep the car clean. Any ideas on what could be causing this?

Not to be gross, bt it’s worth checking if something might be dead in the intake or duct wrk. This can happen, especially if the car sits for a while or if you live in a rural area where critters might find hiding spots.

You’re may be right, considering that the car was sitting under a tree for a long time before you bought it, it’s definitely worth checking for anything that might have gotten stuck in the intake or duct work. Thanks for the tip

If the smell ain’t constant, it could be something you’re driving past like driving past a skunk. If it’s fairly consistent, do check your ac. A few ways to take care of it are after you park sit in the car with the fan blowing and the ac off to dry off the coil which will help kill bacteria that could cause an odor. The other option is remove you cabin filter and spray the hell out the coil with lysol.
