What happened to the Focus?

I still have it, just needed something more reliable.

Why not manual swap the Focus and add a turbo?

Did you actually do the swap?
@Sage
I haven’t yet, but it’s on the list. There’s a guy who turbo’d his Focus and others who did manual swaps with or without turbos. Looks like a fun project!

Sounds cool! I’d love to swap mine too, but I’m not great with mechanical stuff :3
@Sage
Same here. I want to find a newer Focus with lower miles before I start. Mine’s a 2013 with 212k miles and some other issues. But if you need help, there are plenty of guides online for the swap. Happy to share what I know!
@Dakota
Thanks! I’ll definitely reach out when I’m ready. My Focus is sitting at 177k miles, and I haven’t had any major issues since I got it at 158k. Fingers crossed it holds up until I can afford to do the swap! It would be awesome to work on a car project!
I promise I’m not trying to be a jerk, but as a mechanic, I have to point this out. I wanted to say, ‘Traded one bad Ford for another,’ but I’ll keep it civil.
If your Taurus has one of the V6 engines, be aware of a common issue with them. They have a timing chain driven water pump. When it starts to fail, it leaks coolant from a weep hole, and if ignored, it will start leaking into the engine oil, which can ruin the engine. Keep an eye on the coolant level and look for leaks in that area. Check under the oil cap for any crusty, dried coolant. It’s something worth checking every oil change.
I’m not trying to scare you—it’s a great car otherwise. But if you catch coolant leaking, stop driving it until you can replace the pump. It could save you from a blown engine.
I go to junkyards often, and one of the games my friends and I play is guessing whether the oil cap will look like a chocolate milkshake. It’s a bad bet on those Ford engines. The same issue pops up in Edges, Flexes, MKS, Tauruses, and more.
@Oaklee
Great advice. This makes me nervous about my 2013 Focus SE manual hatchback with 90k miles, but it’s running fine and reliable for now.
@Oaklee
When I saw that you replaced your Auto Focus with a Cyclone Taurus, I wanted to say something like, ‘Goodbye USA, Hello California!’ But I didn’t want to be negative. Honestly, a Cyclone Taurus is probably more reliable than a DPS6 Focus. But yeah, it still has its own issues, sorry OP.
