How would you rate a 2007 Ford Focus? Honest opinions?

I just got a 2007 Ford Focus from a car lot. It’s got no accidents, one owner, and 118,000 miles on it. I’m not super picky about cars, but I’d love to hear honest opinions from people who know more about them.

Sounds like a decent buy if you’re not looking for anything fancy. Hope it works out for you!

It’s a basic car. Nothing to get excited about, but it’s reliable, cheap, and easy to maintain. If you just need something for A to B, it’s a solid choice.

I’d give it an F… for Focus.

I had a ZX3 manual back in the day—fun little car! My ex had a sedan automatic, and it was simple and reliable. Cheap cars feel cheap, but as long as they work, who cares?

Exactly, as long as it gets me from A to B (and sometimes C), I’m happy. Not a fan of electric cars either, so this works for me.

I’ve owned a few of these. Watch out for the lower control arms—they rust easily and should probably be replaced by now. The climate controls can break too. Other than that, great gas mileage and fun to drive with a manual.

Yeah, my temperature knobs broke too. Classic issue.

My parents have one. Runs fine and gets good mileage, but it’s not super comfortable for me to sit in.

Same here, I’m 6’2 and my legs don’t fit well. My last car was a ‘96 Monte Carlo with bench seats, and it was so much more comfortable!

It’s an okay commuter car. Nothing special. I’d rate it a solid ‘meh.’ :man_shrugging:

Good with a manual. If it’s an automatic, you’re either stuck with a reliable but awful-driving one (like this model) or a better-performing one that self-destructs (newer models).

Mine drives like crap. It’s currently smoking, so I’m not driving it anymore. Definitely a ‘meh’ car. :joy:

How many miles are on it? Thinking about buying one with 199k miles for cheap, but now I’m second-guessing.

Mine started having issues at 157k. I wouldn’t recommend it. They’re built cheap and don’t last long.

Thanks for the heads-up!

They’re cheap to fix though. At 200k, a lot of the common issues have probably already been addressed. If you’re okay with basic DIY repairs, it might still be worth it.

Mine has 249k miles and still runs. Not bad for an old car.

Decent car if you keep up with maintenance. If you live somewhere with snow, make sure to wash it often. These cars rust quickly.

I’ve got an ‘05, and it’s practically a rust bucket. Living in Canada doesn’t help with all the road salt!
