I just got an Android touchscreen stereo installed in my 2012 Ford Focus SE. It was a bit of a project to get it in, but now that it’s working, it looks and sounds awesome. Only issue—I can’t figure out how to get the steering wheel controls to work with it. Anyone else dealt with this?

Ninas. It’s plural for Nina.

Ninjas. It’s actually a song about that time the turtles went to Paris, but calling it ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in Paris’ was a bit of a mouthful.
Do you have any specs? Mostly curious about RAM/ROM and how smooth it is. I want one too, but I hate when things are slow and laggy.

@Grady
Thanks! It’s a 4/64 setup. I was hoping for 8GB or at least 6GB of RAM.

4GB should be plenty for a car stereo—you’re not gaming on it! With Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, your phone does most of the work anyway.
@Han
I’m actually not planning to use Android Auto/CarPlay. My plan is to have a separate SIM card for the stereo, so it’ll have its own data without relying on my phone.

Interesting setup—what apps do you plan to run?

Mainly maps and Spotify, probably running all the time. I’d like a unit with a built-in SIM card slot since I can get multiple SIMs on my plan.
@Tatum
Mine handles maps and music pretty well. I tested it on a 45-mile drive today and it ran smoothly the whole time. I don’t have a SIM in it, though, so can’t comment on data.
We drive to one song and one song only!
Mine has a little app bar at the top. Do you know how to get rid of it?

Can you send a picture?
Oh no

Why ‘oh no’?
I’m thinking of getting one for my 2014 Focus Zetec S. It’s too bad about the steering wheel controls—if anyone figures it out, please share! Also, how fast does Bluetooth connect and how long does it take to boot Android Auto/CarPlay?
@Finch
I found a way to program the steering wheel controls, but the settings don’t save after I turn off the car.
Looks awesome! Not sure if you’ll be able to use your steering wheel buttons unless you rewire them to match the adapter for the unit.
