I’ve been looking at a 2013 Ford Focus ST with 80k miles and a stage 3 package. The car is in great condition, but the dealership wants $18,000 flat after fees. I walked away because I felt it might be overpriced, but now I’m second-guessing myself.
I’ve been searching for three months and can’t find a cheaper one in this condition. Should I go back and sign the papers, or is this still a bad deal?
The market is crazy right now. In some places, it’s almost like if you find a car, just buy it. We’ve had Fiesta STs and similar selling for nearly new prices here in Alberta.

I was looking at some in Alberta, and yeah, the prices are ridiculous.
If by stage 3 you mean aftermarket mods, those don’t add any value. I wouldn’t pay more than $14k for a 2013 with 80k miles. That car was $24k brand new, and it’s almost 10 years old. If the market ever normalizes, it’ll depreciate below $12k fast.
Just to clarify, stage 3 usually means mods like intake, intercooler, downpipe, and a tune. ST3 is a trim package with leather seats and premium features. Either way, the market is insane. I paid under $18k for my 2013 ST3 with 22k miles five years ago.
I know the market is rough, but I bought my 2016 ST3 brand new for $32k out the door. If you can find something better for the price, I’d recommend going that route.
Ask the dealer if the ‘stage 3’ refers to mods or the factory ST3 trim package. If it’s mods, they don’t add value. If it’s ST3 trim, it means better seats, stereo, and other premium features.
If you’re not finding local deals, consider searching out of state and shipping the car. It might still save you money. Another option is looking for auctions or rebuilds.
