Is a Ford Focus reliable enough for a commuter car?

Do 2016 Focus models have the same automatic issues?

Yep, all models from 2012–2018 have transmission problems.

I’ve got a 2005 Focus ZX4. Bought it in 2007 with 8k miles. The transmission needed a rebuild at 12k, but it’s now at 200k and still going strong with great AC. Most reliable car I’ve owned.

I had an ‘03 Focus SE, and it was a nightmare. Never had a car make me so angry before. Absolute piece of junk.

What about a Honda, Subaru, or Mazda? Toyota isn’t the only option out there.

Reddit always hypes Toyota like it’s the only car worth owning. Plenty of other good options.

Toyota is great, but it’s not for everyone. There are other reliable cars that fit different needs.

Subaru has engine issues too, so they’re not perfect either.

True. Toyota had issues with V6 Tacomas for a while too. Always do your own research before buying.
