I had to say goodbye to my trusty 2012 Ford Focus SEL with 190k miles, still going strong with a Tom tune from Focus Power. This little car did it all—crossing the U.S. to visit family and friends, and always taking me wherever I needed without a hitch. Treat the DPS6 transmission right, and it won’t leave you stranded. Farewell, Focus gang. Not sure if I’ll own another one, but I hope to someday.
Sad to see it go I love that shade of red!
By the way, are you selling your unmarried SCT Flasher?

Yeah, are you interested? I’ve never shipped anything before, though, and I don’t have money for shipping if it’s pricey .
@Ellis
If it’s unmarried, I’m super interested. Let’s figure out a good price! I’ve been wanting Tom’s tune for years but didn’t want to pay $460 for the flasher. The tune alone is $150 without it.
How did you make your spoiler black? I’ve been thinking about doing the same for mine!

Hey! I took it off, and even though people warned me spray paint wouldn’t work, I gave it my best shot. I let each coat dry for 15 minutes and sanded the red paint a lot (that hurt, lol). Then I used black primer—4 coats—followed by green-purple color-shifting clear coat about 6 times. I finished with a decent clear coat to protect everything. It turned out amazing! Just take your time and don’t touch it while it’s drying.
Are you selling the power steering control module?

I don’t have the car anymore. Honestly, I lost it because of late payments. I can’t grab parts off it, but I am selling my subs, amps, and SCT tuner.
@Ellis
Man, that sucks. Would you get another Focus, or are you looking at something different?

Right now, whatever’s cheapest to get me back on the road. But I loved how the Focus handled for such a good price. It even sounded better than a high-revving Civic. I’d totally take another Focus, especially an ST!
@Sable
Nice! If I can save $1200 before I need a place to live, this is exactly what I’d like to do. A manual Focus would be such a huge upgrade from the DPS6. Mine didn’t give me issues, but I replaced the TCM early because I was nervous. How do you even buy from a salvage auction? I’ve only bought cars from dealerships or Facebook Marketplace.
@Ellis
Maybe check auctions in a nearby town or state. If you’re willing to travel, you could even come to AK. Our salvage auctions have some gems.

That’s tempting. I’d love to find another Focus, so I’d consider making the trip if it’s worth it. What’s the name of the auction near you? Do they have a website I can browse?
@Ellis
They’re more active in summer and fall, just so you know.
$150 is just for the tune. I paid $500 for the SCT flasher, though. They’re pricey!
That DPS6 transmission has stranded so many people, no matter how well they maintain it.
