Can you recommend some reliable cars with good resale value that aren’t too expensive?
Sure! Here are a few suggestions:
Sedans:
- Toyota Camry (2012–2015)
- Kia Optima (2013–2016)
- Honda Accord (2013–2015)
SUVs/Crossovers:
- Hyundai Santa Fe
- Ford Escape
- Toyota RAV4
- Nissan Xterra
All of these can be found within a 50k budget in decent condition.
Thanks, I’ll check these out!
If resale value is your top priority, go for a Lexus or Toyota. You might have to look at older models to fit your budget, but they’re reliable and have better resale value. Avoid U.S. specs and check for service history.
Thanks for the advice!
Look into a pre-2015 Honda Crosstour. I got a 2011 for my wife for 26k, and aside from normal wear and tear, it’s been fantastic. Smooth ride, and very reliable. Always test drive before buying!
I own a 2016 Focus sedan, and I haven’t had any issues. That said, I wouldn’t pay 40k for it. My 2016 VW Jetta is a much better car overall, with better build quality and space.
Does the Focus have decent resale value?
Only if you don’t overpay for it. I bought mine for 22k last year, so paying 40k for a 2017 model seems way too high. You’ll lose money if you sell it later.
Good point. Thanks!
It depends on what you compare it to:
- More reliable than Chevy or Dodge? Probably.
- More reliable than Honda or Lexus? Likely not.
Thanks for the perspective.
In my experience, it’s not more reliable than Dodge.
