I’m thinking about buying this Focus but the price seems high for a 9-year-old car with 146,000 km. I heard diesel engines are more reliable, but not sure if it’s worth it. Any thoughts?
You’re really going to pay €11k for a 9-year-old Focus with 146,000 km on it? It’s worth less than half that in my opinion.
Sadly, this is pretty normal in Ireland. Covid and Brexit messed up the market here.
How much does it cost to import a second-hand car from the UK to Ireland?
I haven’t done it personally, but I’ve heard it’s not worth it anymore due to the additional costs.
I found one half the price, half the mileage here
Yeah, but that’s in the UK…
I bought a similar one in my country for less than half of that price. Crazy how much they’re charging!
If it’s a manual, go for it. But I’d avoid the automatic. Prices in Ireland are unfortunately high.
Looks pricey. I bought a 2014 diesel 1.6 in the UK with just over 40k miles for £7000 three years ago. So far, it’s been reliable. Just make sure to check if the timing belt has been changed, it should be done around 100,000 miles or at 10 years.
Cars are generally about 25% cheaper in the UK compared to other European countries.
Really? As someone from the UK, I don’t see that.
It’s a manual! Grab it while you can!
Not worth the price.
Seems a bit high. I bought mine 5 years ago with 112,000 km for about £6,200, but mine wasn’t a diesel.
Let me clarify: it depends. I have a 2015 Focus that my parents bought for 10k. It lasted 4 years before the transmission started acting up. I’m at 171k km now.
I got a Turnier Titanium with 133,000 km, 150 HP, and the winter package for €9700.
I bought mine 3 years ago with 95k km for under €10k, fully loaded with options. I wouldn’t buy this one. I’m from the Netherlands, by the way!
Too expensive for what you’re getting. I wouldn’t pay more than €7k for that.
