Definitely have a mechanic look it over first. That generation Focus didn’t have major issues, but at this age and mileage, a pre-purchase inspection is key. Avoid going to a dealer mechanic, though – they’ll usually overcharge.

I daily drive an '06 hatchback. Burns a little oil, but it’s been reliable, and repairs have been easy and cheap. Surprisingly good handling for what it is.

I got an '03 with 92k miles. Seller seemed honest but knew nothing about cars. Luckily, I had a friend do a pre-purchase check and found some minor issues. Ended up negotiating $1,400 off the asking price.
I’d pay $500, maybe $800 if it’s a manual. Not worth $2,500.
Too pricey. I bought an ’03 with the 2.3L engine and half the mileage for around $1,900 a few years ago. It’s been solid, but multiple owners mean there’s usually some neglected issues. Try negotiating way down if you’re set on it.
Service records would help give a clearer picture of the car’s condition.

CarFax shows a lot of repos, but it does look like it’s been maintained pretty well.

Get a mechanic to do a full inspection. With seven owners, you never really know what it’s been through mechanically.
People don’t sell cars that are worth keeping. 7 owners? Way too many – I’d stay away.
Might be worth $500.
Way overpriced for what it is.
