10 year mark and everything is failing 14 se

10-year mark and everything is failing. Just hit 115k and 10 years on my daily. This summer, it seems like I’m suddenly replacing a lot of things.

  • In February, temperature changes cracked my coolant reservoir. by May, my brake booster ripped at the boot. Even though it was a hassle, I fixed it myself. Two weeks later, it started misfiring, so I changed the spark plugs. A month later, the throttle body failed and put me in limp mode, so I replaced it. then july was kind of nice, but then I started hearing strange noises. I think there’s an exhaust leak near the catalytic converters (PZEV :disappointed_relieved:).
Till today when the water pump started leaking badly.

None of these repairs are impossible or too expensive for a home mechanic, but they do mess up my work schedule and transportation.

I guess I’m lucky that mine is a manual, but now I’m wondering if there’s anything else I should replace as part of routine maintenance while I’m doing the water pump and belt. Are there any other things I should check for after 10 years? I love my Focus and want it to last as long as possible!

The issue is that things either don’t get replaced based on mileage or they don’t get replaced based on time. My car is all about mileage and just hit 10 years. With my 14SE having 218k miles and being an automatic, I haven’t had to replace as much as some people do.

I hear you. I’m trying to replace the clutches on my daughter’s 2014 with the DSP6 transmission. It’s been a nightmare because I bought a cheap kit, and now things aren’t fitting together correctly.

Same thing happened to me. It all started with the heater core, then plugs, coils, and the valve cover gasket.
