I got a 2012 Ford Focus from someone else, and it already had a lot of sun damage and some scratches on the hood and the left side. I recently scratched it badly while backing out of a tight spot next to a metal gate. Should I replace the damaged part or just get a paint job from a repair shop? I’m looking for a more budget-friendly option.

that depends on what you want to do with the car. If you plan to fix all the sun damage and scratches, you might as well have the body shop repair the fender and bumper at the same time. If you’re mainly worried about the fender, try calling local salvage yards to see if they have a fender and bumper in the right color. I haven’t had much luck finding a perfect match myself, but if they don’t match, you can always have them painted later if it bothers you.

you should get help ASAP before it worsens and becomes too costly
