Is it worth putting a body kit on my car at 200,000 miles?

I’ve got plans for a full body kit, new seats, windshield, and more upgrades, and I finally have the budget for it. My car is just shy of 200,000 miles, though, and I’m wondering if it’s really worth putting all this money and time into it, only for the car to potentially die soon after.

Has anyone here kept their Focus going strong well beyond 200k miles?

Personally, I wouldn’t bother.

I was planning to keep working on mine, but the transmission is too much of a gamble. Plus, I need new exhaust, sensors, suspension – it’s just not worth it anymore for me. But if it’s worth it to you, go for it.

If it’s an automatic, you’ve been lucky to avoid major repairs so far. I’d sell it and put the money toward an ST.

If you have to ask, it’s probably not worth it. I’ve put a lot into mine, but I’m set on keeping it forever and have spare parts stocked up. These cars don’t have great resale value, and mods won’t change that.

It’ll last as long as you’re willing to keep up with the maintenance. My family has taken cars past 500,000 miles. Mine just hit 200k, and I’m planning to keep it, so I’ve done new struts, control arms, timing chain, and more. If you’re in it for the long run, why not?

If you’ve got the budget, maybe consider getting an ST instead.

If you’re planning on keeping it for another 100k, then go for it. Just be aware, body kits rarely fit perfectly – they usually need a lot of work to look right.

If it makes you happy, do it! I’m putting a kit on my 2013 SE hatch soon. It’s been with me for almost 12 years. This is art to me!

Honestly, I’d junk it.

It’s worth it if you really want it, but body kits don’t add any value and don’t usually fit like factory parts.
