Is this tight enough about 3 mm s to high can’t tighten anymore was thinking of a rubber washer
No. You might have damaged the threads in the mounting hole. If you keep tightening the bolt, you’ll strip the threads, and this could cause the engine to shake to death.
consider,
- Remove the mounting bracket.
- Check the threads inside the hole.
- See if you can screw the bolt in by hand.
If the bolt doesn’t go in easily by hand, you’ll need to fix the hole. You might be able to clean up the threads with a tap.
If that doesn’t work, you’ll need to use a helicoil. Buy the right kit for the thread size and follow the instructions.
I think the thread size might be M14x1.5, so start with that when you look for parts at the hardware store.
If you really want to keep it as is, don’t use a rubber washer. Instead, use a stack of flat washers to fill the gap.
thx . I managed to remove the bracket and tried to do it by hand though got it halfway in. I’ll take the next steps and hope the tap will work. The bolts look pretty good.
Is it cross threaded???
Usually not. It seems like the motor mount, so that would be a definite no.
Are the bolts different lengths? I don’t remember that being the case. Something else might be wrong.
No. Also, what does it connect to? If it’s something important, then definitely no. Bolts won’t work if they aren’t tightened all the way. If you can’t get it tightened fully, there might be a missing spacer, or the threads on the bolt or hole could be damaged, stopping the bolt from going all the way in.
No Sir, it looks like you already crossthreaded it. You can either finish tightening it down all the way, which might hold it in place like nature’s locktite, or take it out and use a tap to clean the threads. Otherwise, it could make a lot of noise.
Did you thread the pitch???
