BF Goodrich G-Force Comp2 A/S. Been pretty happy with them.
Rubber ones… usually work best!
I have a trusted local shop, so I go with whatever they recommend. Just steer clear of budget brands.
I do mostly highway miles, so I stick to touring tires. About $600 per set, brand doesn’t matter too much for me.
What kind of performance are you looking for?
Just put on Bridgestone Potenza RE980 A/S+.
Toyo Proxes Sport on my MK3.5 1.5 TDCi. Surprisingly good performance, handles great.
Falken Wildpeaks AT.
Michelin Defender or whatever Costco has on sale, honestly.
Just the regular kind… nothing fancy.
Continental EcoContact 6.
Kumo tires. I’m in a warm climate most of the year, and they’re a great budget option.
Here’s what I’ve had:
- Continental ContiProContact (OEM) - awful, no grip.
- General Altimax RT45 - solid for the first 20k miles, then got bad in wet/snow. Terrible on ice.
- Michelin CrossClimate 2 - bought them in spring, and so far they’re amazing in the rain. Hope they’re good for winter too, if it even snows.
I got 50,000 miles out of these without even rotating them. They got pretty loud, but that was on me. Had enough tread left to go longer, but the noise was unbearable.
Decent in mild winters (I’m in Boise). When rotated, they stay quiet. I keep them at 36 psi and get around 37 mpg on mostly highway miles.
Michelins are pricey but worth it. I do Pilot Sport 4S in the summer and X-Ice Snow for winter.
