I got my SE in 2021 with 62k miles for $11,500. These dealerships overcharge like crazy. If I’d known better, I wouldn’t have spent that much!
No offense, but I got my SE (2013) with 60k miles for $5,500.

Why assume they actually fixed the transmission? If they just did a quick cleanup, they might have ignored any real issues.
This is why I tell my customers to stick with us… we don’t pull these kinds of stunts.
Why’d you sell it for just $1,500? Were you tired of it?

We were feeling the transmission slipping, and I didn’t want to put $4-5k into it. Needed a new fender panel, bumper, and had suspension issues too.
@Hartley
Just a few repairs, though $1,500 still sounds a bit low. Next time, try to negotiate a better price.

I went with the KBB value, but I guess that was a mistake. It said $4,000-5,000, and with the needed repairs, I thought $1,500 was fair.
@Hartley
Your math was logical, but dealerships don’t use the same logic. They knock off money for every tiny issue and add inflated repair costs before selling it.

Makes sense. Hope no one buys it.

Everyone learns eventually! I once bought a Nissan Versa with the dreaded CVT. I didn’t know how bad it was until the transmission started failing at 170k miles.

Yeah, I’ve heard about those Nissans.
@Hartley
I got lucky because I was consistent with maintenance. Never had major issues until then. Not changing the fluid probably saved it.

That’s smart! We’ll be more careful with our RAV4.
Typical Walser dealership behavior.

Actually, I liked the buying process. KBB valued it at $5,000-6,000, and I figured $1,500 was fair after repairs.

Glad you had a good experience. I worked for them, and they treated employees terribly.
@Jordan
That’s unfortunate. My neighbor had a great experience with them, got an insane warranty that’s still covering his car at 150k+ miles.

Sounds like they’re at least taking care of customers.
That’s a base model if I’ve ever seen one. No fog lights, basic radio, non-foldable mirrors. It’s crazy they’re charging so much.

Some of those features aren’t even available in this market. It’s just a middle-of-the-road version.
